Voters in Pierce County from every district overwhelmingly supported Initiative 502 in 2012, which legalized the sale, processing, and production of recreational marijuana. However, the conservative Pierce County Council blocked marijuana retail shops from moving forward, including a ban on recreational marijuana that has resulted in a potentially dangerous black market in unincorporated areas of the county. This non-binding Advisory Vote 1 sends a message that voters reaffirm their support for a regulated market for legalized marijuana in unincorporated Pierce County. Vote YES on Advisory Vote 1.

Temas en la Votación de la Ciudad University Place
Dependiendo de dónde vivas, es posible que tengas las siguientes elecciones municipales en tu papeleta.
Parks are a crown jewel of most communities, bringing people from all walks of life together to enjoy nature and recreation. Unfortunately, the University Place City Council passed a resolution in 2015 saying it will shut down the recreation department as of 2017 due to lack of funding. Proposition 1 allows for the creation of a University Place Metropolitan Parks District that can help generate money specifically intended to keep parks open to everyone and also allows for commissioners to be elected to represent the parks districts. Vote YES for Proposition 1 to ensure generations of University Place children have access to parks.

East Pierce Fire & Rescue
We need to ensure firefighers have the tools they need so everyone can stay safe. Firefighters in East Pierce County are working hard to provide faster medical services to the area. That's why East Pierce Fire and Rescue has put forward Proposition 1, a one-year $630,000 levy that will help train additional paramedics, cover the cost of supplies and equipment, and maintain the ability to transport residents with no out of pocket expense. If approved, this levy will reauthorize the previously approved Emergency Medical Services levy rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed value, or about $1.25 a month on a $250,000 home. Vote YES for East Pierce Fire and Rescue.
