Vote YES for Proposition 1 in University Place

Parks are a crown jewel of most communities, bringing people from all walks of life together to enjoy nature and recreation. Unfortunately, the University Place City Council passed a resolution in 2015 saying it will shut down the recreation department as of 2017 due to lack of funding. Proposition 1 allows for the creation of a University Place Metropolitan Parks District that can help generate money specifically intended to keep parks open to everyone and also allows for commissioners to be elected to represent the parks districts. Vote YES for Proposition 1 to ensure generations of University Place children have access to parks.

VOTO YES

Vote YES on Pierce County Advisory Vote 1

Voters in Pierce County from every district overwhelmingly supported Initiative 502 in 2012, which legalized the sale, processing, and production of recreational marijuana. However, the conservative Pierce County Council blocked marijuana retail shops from moving forward, including a ban on recreational marijuana that has resulted in a potentially dangerous black market in unincorporated areas of the county. This non-binding Advisory Vote 1 sends a message that voters reaffirm their support for a regulated market for legalized marijuana in unincorporated Pierce County. Vote YES on Advisory Vote 1.
