In 2021, Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One noted a 37% increase in community emergency requests over the last decade.
Proposition 1 for Pierce County Fire Protection District 5 would address our community's needs by providing ongoing funding for emergency services. With an increasing demand for urgent medical care, fire suppression, and other emergency response, the Board of Fire Commissioners have reached consensus to reinstate a multi-year EMS levy that increases the rate to match the greater needs of the district.

Because of a Tim Eyman initiative, the Legislature is required to submit any bill it passes that closes tax loopholes or raises revenue to a non-binding advisory vote. The Legislature had a historically productive 2022 session, resulting in several advisory votes appearing on the ballot. We hope the Legislature will change the law to remove these meaningless measures in the future.
